Trivia / Kid Icarus (1986)

Go To

  • Manual Misprint: The instructions manual makes reference to a high score table. There is no such thing in the NES version. The high score table was only present in the Famicom Disk System version which allowed for the saving of data.
  • Troubled Production: Designer and artist Toru Osawa spent most of the game's development working on it alone, while the rest of R&D1's development staff was focused on Metroid. After the Metroid team completed that game and returned from vacation, Kid Icarus entered three straight months of crunch and constant all-nighters in order to meet the December deadline, with Osawa even foregoing his honeymoon in the process. The game was completed a mere three days before release, with there being no time to even add a credits roll for the original Japanese FDS version.
  • What Could Have Been: The original game was meant to be a more serious take on Greek mythology, but Yoshio Sakamoto and other members of the game's staff suggested to Osawa that a more comedic take would help the game stand out.
