Trivia / Kickin' It

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: While it isn't shown around the clock everyday, it does get lots of promotion and countless marathons on Disney XD and sometimes Disney Channel. While other shows receive this treatment, it does get more marathons than most other Disney XD shows. For instance, there was a marathon for Kickin' It and Lab Rats on Disney Channel the night before the Season 3 Premiere as well as a Kickin' It marathon on XD on the day of the premiere. And there was probably one during the week prior to the premiere.
  • The Cast Showoff:
    • Leo Howard is an actual black belt in karate and takes this up to eleven, as he does all his own stunts.
    • Mateo Arias is also a very talented dancer.
    • Olivia Holt and Kelli Berglund showcase their singing talent in The New Girl.
      • Interestingly, this is the first time Kelli Berglund sings onscreen even if her more famous role on Lab Rats it taken into account.
  • Cast the Expert: Leo Howard was a performing martial artist by the age of 9 and has a black belt in real life.
  • Casting Gag:
    • This isn't the first time Jason Earles plays a Manchild Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
    • Moises Arias was once Jason Earles' boss. Now, Jason Earles's is Mateo Arias's boss...err, Sensei.
    • This also isn't the first time Loni Love plays a sassy lunch lady.
    • Then there's Reed Alexander, who plays a character who seeks to humiliate and torture the main characters. Sounds a lot like Nevel, doesn't it?
  • The Character Died with Him: Subverted, Murray Gershenz, who had played Murray, had died in 2013 while the show is in air. As the result, Murray got written out and he is never seen again or mentioned again, but still alive, though.
  • Creator's Favorite Episode: Olivia Holt has cited "The Karate Games" as her favorite episode.
  • Dawson Casting: Averted with the main cast as they are all around the same age as or a year older then their characters. But there are a couple examples of older actors. Albert was played by a 22 year old actor at the time. Jack’s temporary replacement in “Hit the road Jack” was played by a 21 year old actor.
  • Directed by Cast Member:
    • Jason Earles (aka Rudy Gillespie) has directed about 4 or 5 episodes.
    • Jason is also a producer of this series.
    • Leo Howard directed the episode "Fight at the Museum" which also certified him as the youngest director by the Guinness World Records
  • Dueling Works:
    • With Lab Rats. Both comedies about a group of heroes that aired around the same time.
    • Can also be with Nickelodeon's Supah Ninjas. Both shows are the respective martial-arts sitcoms for Disney and Nickelodeon but Kickin' It has a different premise than Supah Ninjas. They both aired in 2011. Kickin' It had 4 seasons while Supah Ninjas had only 2.
  • Meaningful Release Date: "Wedding Crashers" premiered on October 8, 2012, the night of the series premiere of Crash & Bernstein. To tie into the show's premiere, both Kickin' It and Lab Rats ("Air Leo") had Crash and Bernstein star Oana Gregory (Amanda) make guest appearances that night.
  • Working Title: Wasabi Warriors
  • Written by Cast Member:
    • Joel McCrary not only plays his on-screen character Bobby Wasabi but he also wrote 13 episodes at least.
    • Some of the episodes written by him got Jason Earles as a director.
