Tropes found in Holt's works:
- Award-Bait Song: Performed one for the Disneynature movie Bears, entitled "Carry On".
- Child Popstar: She was once a Kidz Bop vocalist.
- Fan Community Nicknames: Olivians.
- Idol Singer: During her Disney Channel days.
- Playing Against Type: She auditioned for Tandy in Cloak & Dagger because she wanted to do something darker and more mature than her squeaky-clean Disney roles. Considering that the premiere episode had her character roofie a guy so she could rob him, abuse drugs, have sex in a pickup truck, nearly be raped, and possibly kill someone, it worked.
- Redundant Romance Attempt: The narrator of "Had Me @ Hello" just wants to dance with her Love Interest, but he doesn't realize that and is, instead, 'trying too hard' to get her heart. You don't have to try too hard
You already have my heart
You don't got a thing to prove
I'm already into you
