Trivia / Kaiju No. 8

  • Dueling Dubs: A very strange simultaneous version. Like many Jump+ series, it's simulpublished on both Viz Media's website/Shonen Jump app and Shueisha's MANGA Plus website/app. Unlike the others, each has used a completely different translation throughout its release and even has a different title. On MANGA Plus, it's titled Monster #8, and translated by Tiffany Miyoshi via Medibang, Inc. (a localization company that translates most MANGA Plus works that Viz hasn't licensed). Viz Media titles it Kaiju No. 8, and provide their own translation by David Evelyn (a translator of several simulpublished Shonen Jump manga, whose work on said titles has been received positivity due to overall quality and his tendency to post informative translation explanations on Twitter). The latter is used for the collected print release, while the former is speculated to be a result of contractual guarantees made after Medibang were replaced as translators of SPYĂ—FAMILY. The English title on Mangaplus eventually changed to "KAIJU NO.8 (Monster #8)", but the separate translations continue even three years in (It should be noted that Kaiju No. 8 is one of multiple series with simultaneous translations in both MANGA Plus and SJ, however the translations in Jump are generally the more well-know due to how established Viz is to the point of being a household name).
  • Real Song Theme Tune: The ending theme song is "Nobody" by OneRepublic. Its opening is "Abyss" by YUNGBLUD.
