Trivia / Jimmy Buffett

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit: "Come Monday" was his first Top 40 hit, and very different stylistically from the sound he's best known for today. Like "Touch of Grey" is to The Grateful Dead, it's one of the few songs avowed non-Parrotheads don't mind.
  • Defictionalization: The Margaritaville restaurant's menu includes lyric-accurate recreations of the eponymous dish in "Cheeseburger in Paradise". It was also available at another Buffett-owned chain, also titled "Cheeseburger in Paradise"; that chain existed from August 2002 to September 2020.
  • Fan Community Nicknames: Parrotheads. Originally a takeoff on "Deadheads", now universally used among fans (and by Jimmy Buffett), with dozens of "Parrot Head Clubs" nationwide. Kid fans have the nickname "Parakeets".
  • The Merch: Margaritaville has frozen food, beer, furniture, clothing, casinos and barware under the name. The song has been considered to be the most valuable song in Buffett's catalog, making more money off of related products rather than sales of the track.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Buffett wrote "Margaritaville" for Elvis Presley, but Presley declined it. Buffett made it his own song instead; Presley passed away less than a year later.
    • Buffett expressed interest in writing an autobiography once he turned 86 in 2032; he died of lymphoma nine years before that could happen.
