  • Promoted Fanboy:
    • Toby is a Jet Lag fan and her enthusiasm for being on the show is on display right from the start.
    • Twitchy Sparrow, a Twitter user who made a lot of fanart of the show for season five, was recruited by the crew to do the chibi animations for season six.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • According to one of the Nebula plugs in Season 5 the original title of the show was going to be America: The Game, but this was changed early on when they figured that they might be able to do seasons outside of the continental U.S.
    • Season 5 also has a ton of challenges that weren't revealed over the course of the game, including an entire stretch of highway that was unexpectedly closed and a small offshoot leading to a single challenge.
      • Some of these challenges are revealed in The Layover.
    • Adam and Ben's luck in season 5 is a considerable factor in their loss, as they ended up missing the Auckland reward by seconds due to bad dice rolls, and considering the knock-on effect this had on the rest of the season led to Sam and Toby earning enough coins to skip crucial challenges it might've been the most important loss in the show.
    • The United Kingdom was in play in the two Tag seasons (and through Jersey contains the goal for one of the players) and was considered enough of a possibility for someone to end up there that challenge cards such as “eat the national dish” listed it along with other countries like France; additionally, in Season 3, the chasers discussed the possibility of the runner catching a ferry to England. Despite that, no part of either season has ever taken place in that country.
      • Ditto for Switzerland, which is in play as a country containing one player's goal but which Sam (Season 3)/Ben (Season 7) never got anywhere close to. This was eventually rectified in Season 9, which takes place in Switzerland specifically.
