  • Beam Me Up, Scotty!: The first sentence of the infamous "meat grinder monologue" is often misquoted as "If I push you into a meat grinder...." The actual quote starts with "If I chop you up in a meat grinder". Nowhere in the original monologue does he actually say he would push anyone. (He does, however, say that he isn't going to push, but even then, that's far later into the bit.)
  • Cast the Expert: For the Jerma Baseball Association stream, Jerma hired two full teams of actual professional baseball players, reasoning that it was easier to train real baseball players to do clown acts and magic tricks than it was to train professional clowns and magicians to authentically play baseball. The commentary duo of Storm Williamson and Gary Grunt were also both real professional sportscasters, and not actors. This also has the side effect of making the entire stream ten times funnier, because you're watching actual baseball players playing in full clown makeup and hearing two real announcers ramble about excessive back hair and Jerma clogging the stadium toilets.
  • Corpsing: Several times, while being miserable, Jerma has to stop himself from laughing if something outrageous or absurd is occurring around him or to him.
    • The "screams and farts compilation" bit was also entirely based on this premise, as he attempted to complete a monologue while listening to it at full volume, only to corpse every time.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • Jerma doesn't like the "Evil Jerma" image because for years it's been one of the first photos of him that comes up when you Google search "Jerma985."
    • Jerma was at first relieved to hear that the "JermaSus" image was becoming more popular than Evil Jerma. However, given a couple of weeks to think about it, he admitted that he hated JermaSus as well if not more, due to it making people think he was "the sus guy." He threw the meme a bone and did a stream about it in Among Us' VR mode, though, but he kept his contempt rather clear.
    • He has had this reaction to his old "Jermacraft" series, which became a bit of a meme in the fandom because so many people kept bringing it up with him.
    • "Otto's Big Adventure", a video featuring clips of Jerma's dog, Otto, with Jerma dubbing over him in a cutesy voice. Jerma once called it the worst video he's ever made, and while reacting to it on-stream claimed he'd delete it live, only to back down from doing so. During the same reaction, he pointed out that the only part of the video that amused him was a clip taken right before Otto went to the bathroom.
    • His first Dark Souls video from 2013 titled "Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition [Haha... Oh, God! - Uncensored Jerma]", which he watched during a "Old Videos" stream. He cringed just from the title and thumbnail and joked that he would delete it after the stream
  • Creator's Favorite:
    • Jerma really likes Pac-Man, based on his repeated appearances in the Jerma Rumbles and the Running Gag about Pac-Man being the "most iconic video game character."
    • Jerma had a big Sorcery phase in 2016, culminating in Jermania 2016 which featured a whopping 12 characters from Sorcery. He later admitted that it was overkill.
    • Jerma outright stated the McDLT Briefcase Guy from Jermania 2020 was his favorite character at the event. Unfortunately, he got eliminated in a measly ten seconds.
    • Jerma has stated that in his personal opinion, the funniest video he's ever done is "The Photos Are In!"
  • Creator's Pest:
    • Not being a fan of horror, Jerma hated doing Scare Saturdays, apparently dreading every single Saturday he had to make a video. This is why it suffered severe Schedule Slip and eventual cancellation.
    • Jerma regretted putting all seven Serpents from Sorcery in Jermania 2016, since they overwhelmed the entire event and the Fire Serpent was even made champion.
  • Doing It for the Art: Jerma is famous among Twitch streamers for setting up incredibly elaborate and often expensive streams where he records himself (and frequently others) performing non-video game activities, like hooking himself up to a polygraph and having himself interviewed, renting out an entire pro wrestling gym for him and his friends to stage a rumble in, setting up carnival games with a robotic arm for chat to control, and going on an archaeological dig in the desert outside Vegas. Jerma has stated that the cost of these streams usually run into the tens of thousands of dollars, but he keeps going just because he likes doing them for his viewers.
  • He Also Did: Jerma provides a voice for this in-universe cleaning advertisement from A Fox in Space.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: In the mid 2010s, Jerma deleted some of his old channel's videos that he thought were boring or irrelevant, such as TF2 - The Taunt Workshop?. He later stated that he regrets doing this, but fortunately fans have kept them alive on backup channels.
  • Missing Episode: Almost zero of Jerma's Youtube streams pre-2015 have been recorded anywhere. Most of them were fairly standard gameplays of Minecraft or The Binding of Isaac, but he still had some creative ones like a TF2 stream where he'd eat an entire hard-boiled egg after every death (allegedly devouring eight and a half eggs before he couldn't take anymore).
  • Promoted Fanboy: Several of 2ndJerma's editors started out making their own fan edits before Jerma reached out to them for official employment, such as Holy Mackerel the Third who now leads the editing team.
  • What Could Have Been: Jerma once had plans for a Rat Movie 3 and a Castle Griffinsteed 2, but both ideas have been shelved, and he says they're never coming out.
    • Castle Griffinsteed 2 would have involved Carl Griffinsteed's struggle with the fame and fortune he had acquired in the last video. He would be at a boring backyard barbecue in the suburbs, with his neighbors whom he openly hated, performing a grandiose inner monologue in order to entertain himself. That night, a meteor would land nearby and open a portal. He would then have to find himself in the past from the first Castle Griffinsteed.
    • Jerma also planned for his pet dog Otto and the guardian Gerrard from the Rat Movie to appear in Jerma Rumble - Live Action!. Otto in particular would've walked up to the ring in dog form before transforming into a muscular man in a dog mask. However, the venue Jerma rented was too hot and too far away for Otto to handle, and Jerma couldn't find a suit of armor for Gerrard that looked good while also not costing a fortune or being difficult to wrestle in.
    • There were plans for an event stream that would have been a casino based around Mr. Green, with other streamers participating in casino games like poker and blackjack with twists. However due to Twitch changing their terms of service on gambling streams around the time when it was being planned, the event was cancelled. However, the event is still referenced in Grotto Beasts cards.
    • Jerma has lots of weird ideas for streams that never made the cut. Some of them are really out there, such as a nursery stream where he would've taken care of baby dolls, or a horror game stream where he would've kept food, puzzles, or other messy things on his lap to make messes during jumpscares.
  • Word of God: Grandpa's death as Demon Grandpa in the live action Rumble was his canonical final death, and he's not appearing again. This is allegedly due to the fact that he's not a video game character such as Sonic or Pac-Man, and thus doesn't possess extra lives.
  • Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: The Jerma Wrestling videos on his Youtube channel are largely unscripted, aside from certain special events. His reactions to their outcomes are mostly legitimate. Come Twitch streaming, and scripted events go entirely out the window. This has resulted in amazing improvised stories such as Gaben hunting Jerma down in Jerma Rumble 3, a rivalry forming between the Archmage and Lorag in Jermania 2016, and the famous JEX vs. Green Screen arc in Jermania 2018.
