• Died During Production: A sequel was announced in 2022. The Japanese voice of Joy, Yuko Takeuchi, committed suicide two years prior, so it's likely she will be replaced for the movie.
• The Other Darrin:
  • Imitators Liza Lapira and Tony Hale will voice Disgust and Fear respectively in this film, replacing Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader.
  • Kensington Tallman has replaced Kaitlyn Dias as the voice of Riley.
  • For the Japanese dub, voice actor Ami Koshimizu takes over the role of Joy from Yūko Takeuchi after the latter's death in 2020.
• Refitted for Sequel: Several of the new emotions were originally planned for the original film, but ultimately didn't make the cut.
• Sequel Gap: This sequel will come out 9 years after the original film.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Envy was at one point in development of the first movie envisioned as a more sleazy villain looking character.
  • Originally, the new emotions would’ve included Shame and she would’ve been the “arch villain” of the story rather than Anxiety being a Well-Intentioned Extremist. However, Shame was cut from the final draft for a variety of reasons; the moral of “Don’t shame yourself” came off as a bit too preachy, it was difficult to think of a way to redeem someone as negative, harsh, and critical as Shame, her attitude brought down the overall enjoyment of the movie, shame isn’t something universal that everyone deals with like the rest of the emotions, and psychologists that Pixar consulted with over the movie even noted that it technically wasn’t even an emotion.
  • There was going to be a gag where the main Emotions visit Procrastination Land, it was cut for not fitting naturally with the movie's pacing.
