Trivia / How It Should Have Ended

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Daniel Baxter voices a lot of characters, and many talk to each other. It is the case for both Batman and Superman in the Super Cafe shorts and segments, most notably.
    • The Stinger to the Jungle Book video has Jon Bailey do this, as both Kaa and Winnie the Pooh.
  • Approval of God:
  • Ascended Fanon: Their "Because I'm Batman" catchphrase actually made into The LEGO Batman Movie.
  • Cameo Prop: In The Hunger Games, the sword Cato wields is pretty obviously intended to be Frostmourne from the Warcraft series, though attention is never drawn to it.
  • Contest Winner Cameo: In the Return of the Jedi spoof. He's the Imperial Officer who reports to Palpatine that the exhaust ports have been replaced by a giant passage way straight to the reactor core.
  • Defictionalization: Mario ends up in Aperture Science facility. Cue Mari0 next year.
  • Dueling Works: Cinema Sins, Honest Trailers, and How it Should Have Ended all released their entry for Back to the Future Part II in the same day (October 21, 2015), because it was a Meaningful Release Date.
  • Fake Nationality: Jon Bailey voices Black Panther in the Civil War videos, despite not being African himself.
  • Follow the Leader: Korean fans made their own HISHE for Avengers: Endgame before the official one came out.
  • Meaningful Release Date: "How Back to the Future II should have started" was released on October 21, 2015. The day when Marty McFly arrived to the future in Back to the Future Part II.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: The scripts for How The Amazing Spider-Man Should Have Ended, How The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Should Have Ended, and How X-Men: Apocalypse Should Have Ended were written by the fans.
  • Outdated by Canon: Some alternate endings are no longer possible when new information is revealed in the canon.
    • In the "Mandalorian: Season 1", Moff Gideon kills Mando using the Darksaber, but in season 2 it is re-canonized that Beskar armor is one of the few things a lightsaber cannot cut.
    • The A New Hope has the Death Star, instead of circling around Yavin to get to the moon where the rebel base is in order to blow it up, just blow up Yavin and then blow up the moon. Supplementary material revealed that the original Death Star needed a day to recharge its laser after firing, so if they had fired on Yavin, they would have had to wait a full day to recharge in order to fire on the moon, which would have given the rebels ample time to escape and/or mount a counterattack. Noticeably, the special addition version of their A New Hope video instead has the Death Star's shortcut being lightspeeding to the other side of the planet so that they would be in range.
  • Parody Assistance: While Jon Bailey's already served as a voice actor for plenty of videos, he was the actual voice actor for Shockwave and Soundwave in Bumblebee and reprises his roles for the HISHE on the movie.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: Their original version of How Frozen Should Have Ended was taken down by Disney for the use of "Let It Go". They put up a new version where they sing the song but with different lyrics to mock this fact.
  • The Other Darrin: For the Civil War videos, T'Challa is voiced by Jon Bailey. Starting with the Black Panther video, he is voiced by youtuber Azerrz.
  • Tribute to Fido: A drawing of a cartoon dog sneaks its way into many of the shorts as an Easter Egg and tribute to Daniel Baxter's dog, Kiddo. In the Jaws video, "Oddik" takes the place of "Orca" as the name of the boat halfway through.
  • What Could Have Been: The Martha Saga concluding in the HISHE for Justice League (2017) wasn't initially set in stone, and as noted in "The Martha Origin Story", they weren't sure if it would happen in Justice League or Avengers: Infinity War. They decided on going with the former after the former film was released, presumably deciding that if Martha didn't attack the cafe during the episode for Thor Ragnarok (where he can be seen hidden among the crowd), it wouldn't make sense for him to attack it during another Marvel movie (especially since his character revolves around DC Heroes).
  • Why the Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: The comment section for How Saving Private Ryan Should Have Ended was disabled due to what is presumably a massive flame war completely unrelated to the video.
