• The Danza: A subverted example - Faith Ford played Hope and Kelly Ripa played Faith.
• Dawson Casting:
  • Sydney is fifteen in Season 1 and played by a twenty six year old actress. From Season 2 onward it's now a twenty year old actress. Averted with Macey Cruthird and Paulie Litt, who were the same ages as their characters.
  • Faith Ford, Kelly Ripa and Ted McGinley play the college age Hope, Faith and Charlie in flashbacks in "Hope's Float".
• Duelling Shows: With 8 Simple Rules - another sitcom about a family with three children. In both shows the first daughter is Really Gets Around, the middle daughter is the bookworm and the only son is the best character.
• Hostility on the Set: When pushed in an interview, Faith Ford implied that Kelly Ripa didn't get on with Nicole Paggi in Season 1 - and that was the reason she was replaced in Season 2.
• The Other Darrin:
  • Nicole Paggi plays Sydney in Season 1, Megan Fox in Seasons 2 and 3. Jansen Panettiere plays Justin in the pilot, while Paulie Litt plays him for the rest of the series.
  • Charlie's parents were played by two different sets of actors in their two appearances.
• The Other Marty: The original pilot had Brie Larson as Sydney, Josh Stamberg as Charlie and Slade Pierce as Justin. They were all fired due to creative differences and the episode was reshot.
• Real-Life Relative: The Gooch was played by Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa's husband.
