Trivia / Hitman: Contracts

  • Dummied Out: The weapon descriptions in your inventory list their calibers. The demo had the AUG SMG and CZ-2000 pistol share 9MM ammo, but the finished game reverts to the generic ammo categories from previous games. (Pistol, SMG, etc.) So they consume "SMG" and "Pistol" pickups, respectively, despite the menu claiming that they use the same ammo type.

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Whereas the other three games in the series came onto Steam in March 2007, a year after Blood Money's release, Contracts remained unavailable on the platform until January 2014 due to a music licensing issue regarding a Clutch song in the mission "Rendezvous in Rotterdam".
  • Troubled Production: 48-hour shifts and a 100-hour work week. An office with no air conditioning, whose automated windows would open at 10am, causing the programmers to freeze. The game was made in nine months with a skeleton crew, with a third of the team working on Blood Money and another working on Kane & Lynch.
  • What Could Have Been The story takes place after "Curtains Down", the Paris Opera House from Blood Money. Contracts originally was Blood Money; Las Vegas being a location was even being teased as something that would appear in Contracts. Contracts exists because Blood Money was under a deadline which IO couldn’t meet, and they didn’t want to botch their next-gen Hitman title, so they carved out some select content from Blood Money, reworked some old levels, and fleshed out a minor plot point to create Contracts.
