Trivia / Hiryū no Ken

Go To

  • What Could Have Been:
    • According to an early advertisement of Ōgi no Sho, the whole cast from Hokuha Syourin Hiryū no Ken would have probably returned to the game, since Ōgi no Sho's Mongol Khan was originally named Monsterman, just like the wrestler from the arcade game. In the final game, only Hayato (uglier than in the prototype images), Songlam and Lion Kid return from the arcade game. Also, Lion Kid and Demon Kabuki's portraits were originally for Songlam and Monsterman / Mongol Khan.note
    • Another early advertisement for SD Hiryū no Ken showed early designs of the characters which had more in common with early games: Ryuhi retains his sash from Golden Fighter, Wiler had a more conventional Rambo-like design, and Shouryu shares Ryuhi's costume.
    • A Compilation Re-release of the four Nintendo Entertainment System titles was planned for the Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance, but neither of them came out.
    • PlayStation's Virtual Hiryū no Ken was originally meant to be "Hiryū no Ken Pro", a Super Nintendo Entertainment System fighting game sequel to Hiryū no Ken S. Supposedly, most of the designs and some illustrations from Virtual were originally designed for the unmade title. Likewise, there was a plan to make a Updated Re-release of the game as "Virtual Hiryū no Ken Dash", but the leftovers for it were probably recycled for Hiryū no Ken Twin.
    • An unreleased game under the title "Hiryū no Ken Zeon" was planned for the Playstation, but no other details are known.
    • Hiryū no Ken Stadium, a Pokémon Stadium-like game with two versions (Real / SD), was meant to be released for the Nintendo 64 and work with Hiryū no Ken Twin and other two Game Boy titles, Hiryū no Ken Densetsu GB (Real / SD). The Game Boy version's development was quietly abandoned shortly before the main title did.
    • SD Hiryū no Ken Densetsu was going to be originally released for the Playstation as "SD Hiryū no Ken Episode 1: Ōgi no Sho". Later, Densetsu was going to have an Updated Re-release, "SD Hiryū no Ken Densetsu EX" for the Playstation and Sega Dreamcast.
    • Shin Kakutō-jutsu: Hiryū no Ken Retsuden was planned for the Dreamcast, but the project was abandoned. It's unknown if Hiryū no Ken Retsuden GB has any relation to it.
