Pretty Hate Machine | The Downward Spiral | The Fragile | With Teeth | Year Zero | Ghosts I-IV | The Slip | Hesitation Marks
- Creator-Driven Successor: Although the album itself is more of a Spiritual Antithesis, the artwork by Russell Mills was deliberately based on the art style he did for The Downward Spiral.
- Sequel Gap: This album was released five years after The Slip.
- What Could Have Been:
- "Everything" and "Satellite" were originally written for a Greatest Hits Album that had since fallen into Development Hell.
- Guitarist Adrian Belew and bassist Eric Avery were announced as touring members promoting this album, but they both opted out. On-again-off-again lead guitarist Robin Finck was brought back afterward, and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Eustis temporarily switched to bass for the warm-up festival tour before switching to second guitar as Pino Palladino took over as bassist for the fall arena tour.
