- What Could Have Been: Considering that Splatoon 2 doesn't occur in the HoI universe, Tamarinfrog did post what might have happened in the storymodes:
- Agent 4 wouldn't be a new squid like the 2 poster children, but Arnick, under the name "Agent A.S.S". In the first story mode, he ends up saving Blue and Orange.
- Octo Expansion forces Tetrox into the role of Agent 8, as she would get kidnapped and mind wiped when she gets sent down to the Deepsea Metro. Interestingly, Blue and Orange do not appear here as Agent 3 does; Arnick takes their role when he goes to rescue Tetrox, but fails and gets captured himself.
