Go To

  • Release Date Change: Originally scheduled to be released on January 27, 2023, then moved to June 30 of the same year, before finally getting moved to August 2, 2024.
  • Saved from Development Hell: A film based on Harold and the Purple Crayon has been in the planning stages since at least 1994. Henry Selick was originally brought in to direct it, but he eventually left in favor of James and the Giant Peach; work on the project was eventually halted entirely by management changes. It wasn't until 2010 that the idea was revived as a joint production between Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation, and Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment, to be written by Josh Klausner and Dallas Clayton. Nothing was heard from it (besides one brief update in 2016) until 2021, when it was revealed that Zachary Levi would star, SPA and Overbrook had left the project, and Klausner and Clayton had been replaced by David Guion and Michael Handelman; filming started the next year, and (after a couple delays) the movie will finally release in 2024.
