Carlyle: From the brilliant mind of Henry Selick and Neil Gaiman comes... Coraline.
Korey: Damn, you making this sound like a horror movie or some shit.
Carlyle: It is a horror movie! It's a horror movie for kids!

Charles Henry Selick (born November 30, 1952 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey) is an American director, producer, animator and writer who has specialized in films that are made entirely with Stop Motion animation.

Selick began his career working as an in-betweener and uncredited animator on a number of Disney studios productions and directing two short films. He gained much notice in 1993 for directing The Nightmare Before Christmas, based on a story and designs by Tim Burton (who's often believed to have directed it, but didn't as he was too busy at the time).

He followed suit with films such as James and the Giant Peach and Coraline. While not always successful at the box office, they have garnered much praise and cult followings.

Selick has had other feature film projects in store since Coraline, such as an adaptation of The Graveyard Book, but he didn't manage to get them off the ground, in part due to production deals with Disney that fell through. His most recent film was the Netflix original feature, Wendell & Wild which he co-wrote with Jordan Peele.
