Trivia / Halloweentown

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Sara Paxton as both Marnie and a teenage Aggie Cromwell in Return to Halloweentown.
  • Billing Displacement: The first movie's opening credits give Debbie Reynolds top billing, followed by Judith Hoag, then Kimberly J. Brown. Kalabar's Revenge bills Brown first, but relegates Reynolds to an And Starring credit.
  • Defictionalization: The town where Disney filmed the original movie, St. Helens, Oregon, becomes a real Halloweentown every October as part of the Spirit of Halloweentown festival.
  • Franchise Killer: Return to Halloweentown was pretty mixed at best due to the bigger story changes compared to the last two films, the lack of Kimberly J. Brown as Marnie, and having a very obvious implication Disney began to suffer its Network Decay. This lead to Disney no longer doing the films. Even more so that Aggie's actress, Debbie Reynolds, died in 2016, only a day after the death of her daughter, Carrie Fisher. Regardless, Disney Channel does continue to show the movies every October and even sell them on DVD and digital, luxuries not afforded to most '90s DCOMs (except for the digital part).
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Sophie is absent from the final film in the series because her actress had retired from acting by the time it went into production.
  • The Other Darrin: Kimberly J. Brown did not reprise her role as Marnie in Return to Halloweentown, so Sara Paxton took her place. To this day, Brown has no idea why she was replaced.
  • Technology Marches On: The online voice chat system Marnie uses in the first "present-time" scene of Kalabar's Revenge seems more primitive than the likes of Facetime.
