  • Character Celebrity Endorsement: Hägar was featured in television commercials for Skol Lager back in the 1980s in the United Kingdom. He was also to market Mug Root Beer in the 1990s.
  • Completely Different Title: The strip's French title is Hägar Dünor, which is a Pun-Based Title on the Paris train station Gare du Nord in addition to emphasizing Hägar's Norse origin.
    • The strip is called Olaf el Vikingo (Olaf the Viking) in Hispanic countries.
  • One-Episode Wonder: The adapted Hanna-Barbera animation mentioned on the main page, which only got one 30-minute long episode.
  • Outlived Its Creator: The strip has been worked on by Dik Browne's son since Dik's death; in the process it was officially renamed Dik Browne's Hägar the Horrible in tribute.
  • Write Who You Know: According to Chris Browne, the current cartoonist behind the comic strip, his dad, the original creator, Dik Browne, based all the characters on family members.
