Trivia / Guardians (2017)

• Follow the Leader: Many were quick to point out the similarities to The Avengers just from the trailers, but the film itself goes a bit further than that. For one thing, the Big Bad also builds a machine atop a tower that fires a Pillar of Light, with an expendable army at his beck and call, and not only is there a repulsor field around the machine, the tower was literally stolen (plucked from its foundations and moved to Moscow, in lieu of storming and occupying it).
• Stillborn Franchise: Judging by the Sequel Hook, the movie was clearly meant to start a franchise, yet negative reception and disappointing box office returns put a kibosh on that.
