Trivia / Gruntz

  • Dummied Out: There is a number of unused files in the game:
    • There is an attack animation and related voice files for gruntz carrying Warpstone pieces. The weirdest part is that in this animation, the grunt actually smashes the Warpstone against the ground. Just a reminder, in the final game the Warpstone pieces are crucial to successfully completing the game, and if the Warpstone gets destroyed in any way, it's Game Over.
    • For that matter, Magic Wand gruntz also have unused attack animations.
    • Using the freeze spell was originally supposed to elicit a voice response from the victims.
    • There is an unused icon for an Oven Mitt tool. Whatever it was supposed to be used for is a mystery.
    • A curious example: there is an unused function in the game that allows for a secondary objective in Battlez: if a player manages to bring all four Warpstone pieces to the designated spots on the map, they win. The function in question, if placed somewhere on the map, would mark the tile it was placed on as one of those spots. The designer responsible for this function even mentioned that he added it hastily and unknowingly to the rest of the team during the game's development as a treat for the fans.
    • The game has a fully developed and perfectly usable option of setting a time limit for a level, complete with related voice files for the King and the Stopwatch items that replenish 1 minute of your remaining time. However, none of those are used anywhere outside fan-made levels.
