• Fake Nationality:
  • Golda Meir, an Israeli woman who was born in what is now Ukraine and spent much of her youth in the United States, is played by British actress Helen Mirren.
  • French-born Lou Kaddar is played by French (non-Jewish) actress Camille Cottin.
  • Mostly averted with the supporting cast, who are mostly Israeli actors (who speak perfect, albeit accented, English).
• Reality Subtext: Whenever the Soviet Union is brought up, it's with a looming sense of dread. During the Yom Kippur War and throughout the Cold War, the USSR backed Israel's opponents such as Egypt and Syria with military equipment. This is also reflective of how the Russian Federation (the USSR's successor state) has been widely perceived since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and current partnership with Iran.
