Trivia / Goddess of Victory: NIKKE

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Several voice actors play more than one Nikke, most prominently in the English dub. Some actors, like Suzie Yeung, pull triple duty and voice three Nikkes (in Yeung's case, Admi, Noise, and Yulha).
    • From the Chainsaw Man event:
    • From the NieR: Automata event, Yui Ishikawa voices 2B and Rapi. Verges onto Expy Coexistence as they are closely similar character-wise. On the English dub side, Kira Buckland voices 2B, Privaty, and Novel and Alexis Tipton voices Pascal, Yan and Yuni.
    • From the Re:Zero event:
      • In the Korean version, Yu Yeong voices both Emilia and Naga, and Kim Bo-na voices both Rem and Rapi.
      • In the Japanese version, Rie Takahashi voices both Emilia and Diesel, and Inori Minase voices both Rem and Soline.
      • In the English version, Kayli Mills voices Emilia, Rapi, and Alice; Ryan Bartley voices both Ram and Marian/Modernia; and Brianna Knickerbocker voices Rem, Naga, and Cecil.
  • All-Star Cast: Even by gacha game standards, NIKKE's Japanese dub is disgustingly loaded, with nearly every role being given an exceptionally high-profile actor or actress.
  • Ascended Meme: Syuen's Burst Skill, visible during her playable segments in April Fool's 2024, sees a surprise appearance of the Doro, though instead of the original meme-version of Dorothy, it features Doros with the heads of Matis.
  • Banned Episode: The game's ad campaign is already fairly infamous for being very over-the-top and laden with Sex Sells, but at one point they had to remove a Thai commercial for mocking its own target audience of straight males by depicting them as sex-obsessed losers.
  • Blooper: Prior to her release, Scarlet: Black Shadow mistakenly had the Pilgrim branding and logo on her equipment, a blatant continuity error as the concept of Pilgrims did not exist until well after the end of the 1st Invasion. This was also present on the promotional video for New Year, New Sword, forcing the game's social media to take down the video and edit it out.
  • Casting Gag: In both Japanese and English dub, Idol Singer Noise is voiced by Yoshino Nanjo and Suzie Yeung, who previously voiced a school idol in respective dubs.
  • Creator Couple: Kim Hyung-tae and his wife KKUEM (real name: Chae Ji-yun) both work as the game's illustrators.
  • Defictionalization: Red Hood's portable cassette player was made available for sale on Shift Up's Korean online storefront as a limited item. In addition to being a near-exact functional replica, it comes with a cassette tape with the RED ASH soundtrack on it and an augmented reality card of Red Hood and Snow White.
  • Demand Overload: This seems to be the reason Shift Up has settled on for explaining issues with the first Coordinated Operation event, as a higher-than-expected influx of players playing the event caused more connection volatility. It was especially bad when one tried to connect as soon as the event came up, or right after the daily reset and the queue was crammed with hundreds of players.
  • Meme Acknowledgement: The game received an official LINE sticker pack to coincide with its 1st anniversary. One of the included stickers is of Rapi angrily kicking, referencing the Signature Scene of Rapi kicking Syuen in the ribs in Chapter 5.
  • Milestone Celebration:
    • The game celebrates an Anniversary every 6 months, alternating between Anniversaries and Half Anniversaries. These events are usually denoted by the release of an extremely powerful meta-defining character, a major story event revolving around said character, a major content and quality-of-life update, and tons of free goodies.
    • To celebrate the release of Stellar Blade, the official media accounts for both NIKKE and Stellar Blade posted artwork featuring Rapi, Anis and Neon with Eve and Lily. NIKKE also gave all players an additional 10 Advanced Recruit Vouchers.
  • No Dub for You: The Chainsaw Man promotion characters speak Japanese regardless of the game's audio language, despite the anime adaptation having existing English and Korean dubs.
  • Role Reprise:
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Back in 2019, Shift Up released a conceptual trailer featuring some gameplay mock-ups. The original designs of the Raptures differ drastically from the final product, being more boxy and overall generically cute compared to the monstrous designs they were given in the full release. Neon is also essentially a different character, having vague design similarities but being more of a typical timid young girl. She also wielded a grenade launcher rather than a shotgun. Besides Rapi, Vesti, and Neon, a fourth character, Iona, also appears in the trailer, but does not appear in the final game, with it being theorized that her character design and concept were eventually retooled into Marian.
    • Rapi's beta design gave her a significantly different face. Unlike the current design, the beta design was almost doll-like, with eerily pale skin, disproportionately large eyes, and thick red lipstick. It is rather unnerving to look at, and the final release revised her design to be much more natural and human (as far as an anime design can go, at least). The beta design is actually visible in-game as Rapi's Burst Skill icon (likely an oversight), and some elements of it can still be seen on her battle model.
    • Rupee's Christmas design was originally slightly more revealing in datamines before being revised to the final product. The white mesh on the center of her bodysuit only went up to her navel (as opposed to her breasts) and the original design lacked the microskirt. Christmas Rupee also squatted like Alice when shooting, unlike the final implementation where she kneels on one knee like other shooters.
    • Early datamines showed that Nero had a very different design from a different artist, having a much simpler design and wearing a large jacket. It's not sure why the art was changed.
      • The above is the same for Marciana who was a blonde with a radically different design and Moran who had shorter hair and wore bandages and a jacket instead of her silk garb.
  • Word of God: The game's director, Hyungsuk Yoo, revealed some additional lore tidbits pertinent to Red Ash in a December 2023 interview with Famitsu.
    • Dorothy rarely fights at full strength to avoid sullying her clothes, but if she did fight at full strength she would surpass Scarlet and Red Hood in raw power, being the second strongest member of the Goddess Squad short of Liliweiss.
    • Had the Goddess Squad continued to fight Anachiro during their first encounter Liliweiss would have defeated her, but would also have left them with grievous wounds. Liliweiss chose to evacuate instead because she needed the Squad to remain a shining beacon of hope for humanity.
    • The Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann reference was inserted into Red Hood's character because it is a show that embodies romance and passion, which are also core elements of Red Hood's character.
    • There are different arrangements of face and body combinations for mass-produced Nikkes, making no two Nikkes exactly alike.
