• Bad Export for You: The original short-lived DVD release of the TV series from S'more Entertainment used the files from the streaming release, complete with hard subtitles and bad compression. Thankfully, Discotek Media's Blu-rays completely avert this, and arguably look superior to the Japanese Blu-rays due to them doing their own upscale from the SD source with a more filmic look.
• Creator's Favorite: Saffron Henderson has called Tetsuro one of her favorite characters to voice because of how much empathy she had for him.
• Dub Name Change: In the original New World Pictures dub of the first film, Tetsuro was called "Joey 'Hana-cana-boba-camanda' Smith" and Captain Harlock was "Captain Warlock."
• Dueling Dubs: The first film was originally dubbed and released in 1980 by Roger Corman's New World Pictures, which removed about 30 minutes of material from the film, and the names of the characters were localized. This was the first anime film to receive theatrical distribution in North America. The voice cast included B. J. Ward (Tetsuro/"Joey"), Fay McFay (Maetel), Tony Pope (Captain Harlock/"Captain Warlock"), and Corey Burton (The Conductor). In 1996, Viz Video released the film on VHS with a brand new dub from The Ocean Group in Vancouver, featuring Saffron Henderson (Tetsuro), Kathleen Barr (Maetel), Scott McNeil (Captain Harlock), and Terry Klassen (The Conductor). This dub was unedited and completely faithful to the source material. They returned to dub Adieu, Galaxy Express 999 the following year.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: After releasing the first two films on VHS, Viz Video never released them on DVD, and they were out-of-print for over a decade until Discotek Media reissued them on DVD in 2011 and Blu-ray in 2019.
• No Dub for You: The TV series has never been dubbed into English, except the two TV specials, which were dubbed by Harmony Gold USA in the mid-80s. Eternal Fantasy was also first released by Discotek Media on DVD subtitled-only in 2012 before they reissued it with a dub on Blu-ray in 2019.
• No Export for You: The manga has never been officially been released in North America.
• The Other Darrin: When Eternal Fantasy was finally dubbed in 2019, Discotek Media partnered with Sound Cadence in Texas to produce the dub, which featured a completely different cast from Ocean's dubs of the first two films. However, a couple characters had voices from the other Leijiverse media (see below).
• Role Reprise: In the Eternal Fantasy dub (produced in 2019), Lisa Ortiz reprised her role of Maetel from Harlock Saga and Maetel Legend and David Matranga reprised his role of Captain Harlock from the Harlock: Space Pirate CG film.
