Trivia / FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Jim Conroy provides the voice for every animated character, with Blossom and Chet being the obvious exceptions.
  • Adored by the Network:
    • Very much so. Long after the original show's cancellation in 2010 due to declining ratings, WGBH Boston continues to create spin-offs utilizing the character and his extended cast.
    • Back when the first season was in production, PBS liked what they saw so much that they greenlit a second season for the show before it even aired.
  • Creator-Driven Successor: To ZOOM. In fact, this show was actually going to be an additional season of that show, called Hot Seat, before they created the character of this one.
  • Descended Creator: Jim Conroy pulled double duty as the voice of Ruff (plus other members of the Ruffman family) and as a writer.
  • Divorced Installment: This show was supposed to be a season of ZOOM entitled Hot Seat. However, when the character Ruff was created, the show became its' own thing.
  • Missing Episode:
    • Some streaming services skip the Season 1 episode "Saturday Night With a Slight Fever" due to music licensing issues.
    • For unknown reasons, Amazon Prime does not offer Season 2's "The Small Fork is for Dessert (Unless You're a Dolphin.)" This is likely because the episode has Willie going to Epcot as a major plot point, and PBS does not want to face copyright issues with Disney. The episode is also not seen in reruns.
    • Similar to the above, "You Can't Teach an Orange Dog New Tricks" and "The Ol' Shell Game" both feature Walt Disney World (specifically Epcot and Animal Kingdom). The latter episode even has a guest appearance from Crush. They are also not seen in reruns.
  • Renewed Before Premiere: Prior to the series premiere, it was renewed for a second season.
  • What Could Have Been: A sixth season was planned, with auditions taking place in early 2010, but due to a lack of funding, the series would end after five seasons.
