Funny / FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman

Go To

  • The first episode of Season 1, both the provided stop watch and the GPS broke. Julia turns to the camera, and says "Ruff, I haven't been too happy with your electronics here." When they miss their goal by three seconds, Ruff wonders aloud where they could've shaved off those three seconds. Cue the clip of Julia, and a timer showing three seconds.
  • The ending of "The Mystery of the Missing Thing in the Haunted Castle", where in order to reveal his ancestor Ruffael Ruffmanowitz's lost invention, Ruff has to kiss the ancestor's chew toy, a golfing cat, as well as tickle its chin and say "What a pretty puss-puss" to it. It does nothing, and the recording reveals Ruff has to do it multiple times until it activates. Ruff gets madder with each time while the recording of his ancestor laughs it up at Ruff's annoyance.
  • During a challenge in which the Fetchers must wear costumes of Ruff, one contestant says to the camera that he can’t understand how Ruff moves with so much fur... and whispers under his breath, "and fat". Ruff doesn’t respond to the last part, implying that the show legitimately didn’t catch the contestant’s snark (or they thought it was funny enough to leave in, and didn't script Ruff responding to it to make it seem like he didn't catch it).
  • The running Gag in season 1 of Ruff trying (and forgetting) to figure out what the grand prize will be. By the time the finale comes, Ruff once again says, "By the end of the day, one of you will be going home with the grand prize," Brian asks at the beginning of the episode what the grand prize is, as Ruff, who has just lowered display of neon lights behind flashing the words "Grand Prize" stutters nervously. Then the neon sign then collapses from the ceiling, and Julia lets out a frustrated sigh, knowing what this means.
  • In "Ruff's Big Break" from Season 2, Bridget and Rosario are doing a puppet show at a children's hospital, with Rosario as Ruff. His impression and Ruff's reaction are both pretty funny:
Rosario (as puppet!Ruff): [loud, scratchy, melodramatic voice] I BROKE MY LEG!
Ruff: [voice-over] Is that Ruff Ruffman or Marge Simpson?
    • When the kids come back from the challenge, Ruff parodies his own catchphrase by saying "Oh hi, you're Ruff Ruffmans!"
  • In season 2, it's covered that the destruction of Dogtopia / Catlantis, and thus the animosity between cats and dogs, was caused by both species' common enemy - vacuum cleaners. Specifically, a bunch of them arranged on the nearest Island, looking like ancient obelisks.
Rosario: WHAT?! This is the howling monster?!
Ruff, Uncle M: VACCUMN CLEANERS?!?! AAAAAHHHH!!!!!!
Terrified, Ruff, Uncle M, and even Blossom flee for their lives, hiding.
    Rosario: (Suddenly Understanding) Howling menace!
Madi: Oh yeah! Cats and dogs hate vacuums! They're all scared of them! This is the monster!
    • The Stinger for that episode has Ruff and Blossom attempt to get over their fear of vacuum cleaners, only to pretty much immediately fail.
  • In season 2, Ruff admits that "[his] grandma is in better shape" than he is.
  • In season 2, during a survival challenge, the FETCHers have to make a fire. Madi yells to her team, "Do the trees have to be dead?" Cue Nina yelling "OW!" offscreen.
  • In Season 2, any time Rosario wipes out in the snow.
  • In Season 2, Rosario is convinced that the map he, Nina, and Bridget are given is wrong. He tries to convince the girls to go down the path (clearly marked STAY OUT), but the girls talk him out of it. He storms off, and Nina simply says, "He's been watching too many soap operas lately."
  • In season 3, the Fetchers had to create a cake protector that managed to hold 135 pounds. Ruff, in an apparent power rush, decides to put the protector to the ultimate test by pitting it against a monster truck. He almost immediately regrets it once he sees the thing in motion, and Grandma never lets him live it down for the rest of the series.
  • In Season 3, Sammy, Harsha and Jay open a toolbox and what's inside causes Sammy and Harsha to scream so loud that they could shatter glass. Reason? There's a mouse in the toolbox. Jay's message to Ruff in his snarky voice sells it.
Jay: (as he shushes Sammy and Harsha while on the phone) Ruff, I gotta say, before you put a live thing in a box please send me earmuffs.
    • Speaking of Jay and the reactions to their screaming, in the Season finale, Sammy and Harsha are on a separate team working on a fan device that will move a windmill to drop a bucket of golfballs. The two are happy to see their device working...and Jay is on the other side commenting how horrible the noise is.
  • In "Don't Like Fencing? Try Fencing!" Ruff, inspired by Issac and Liza's challenge attempts to pole vault over his couch, only to accidentally hurt himself.
Ruff: Blossom, watch this. Just need to run fast enough—- [runs while panting and attempts to launch himself over his couch] Whoop-de-dee! [Gets Slammed onto the floor] AAAAH!!!!! [Gets hit by his pole] OW!!! That hurts!
  • In Season 4 Talia and Liza are learning about how to build proper Tennis rackets. While going through a small exhibit of some of the world's best rackets, Ron, the tennis racket engineer helping Talia and Liza, pulls out a red, black, and white striped racket. He says it's is none other than one of the actual rackets that was used by Roger Federer himself. Talia COMPLETELY FREAKS OUT, screaming and jumping up and down with the racket in her hands, Liza telling Ron that Talia's a huge fangirl of the tennis champion.
Ron: This is the racket of the number one player in the world Rog...
Talia: ROGER FEDERER?! OH MY GOOOSH!!!!!
Ruff: [shocked as well] Wait what?!
Talia: I touched Roger Federer's racket!
    • Later in the episode, Talia and Liza test their racket design against a professional tennis player, Tracy. Although the racket design works perfectly, Tracy nearly out-serves them at every turn. Ruff's comment is what sells it...
  • The superhero episode has Glen asking his uncle to figure out the identity of Gamma Ray Guy...who viewers can obviously see it's Grandma Ruffman.
    • Brian and Bethany's group is the Indestructible Butterflies. This leads to a hilarious moment as Brian, who is wearing purple butterfly wings and antenna asks a guy next to him on the subway if he's seen Gamma Ray Guy.
    • Noel and Liza race to fulfill one of their challenges...and Liza's lizard tail is trapped underneath a door.
  • Season 4 has the Fetchers on a train that has the Helmet of Victory. But during a stop, Sterling and Brian are asked by Ruff to pick up some Chinese take-out. Unfortunately, by the time they returned, the Train is moving and the walkabout from earlier in the episode is on the Train. And then it rains.
Ruff: (as the Ruff mascot waves goodbye) Oh there's the walkabout, he's on the caboose.
    Brian: And now it's raining.
Ruff: And now it's raining! MY MOO SHOO!!!!
(Sterling drops to his knees with Ruff's food and unleashes a Big "NO!" under the rain)
  • In Season 5's "Eureka is Not a Brand of Dog Food", Ruff's Owner has taken interest in playing Fetch again, and keeps having Ruff fetch balls for her without giving him a break, especially when he's trying to host his show, making him very overtired. Ruff's crying over it during the show is what sells it:
Ruff's Owner: Ruffypie, get the ballie!
    Ruff: [sobbing]
  • In Season 5, Marc is measuring a Beluga whale's girth (or width). Marc says he wonders what Ruff's girth is, and estimates it's probably about the same as the Beluga's. Blossom cracks up at this comment.
  • As much as the Humble Media Genius music video Just Drive! tackles the issue of driving safely, Ruff's singing sounds a bit funny, along with the fact that the song is catchy. At the end of the song has a great Shout-Out to Beyoncé!
  • The entirety of the Humble Media Genius video "Ruff Amuck". In it, Lupine has used a special projector to transfer Ruff into her laptop (as revealed later on) and erased all of his body's features except his face as a way to experiment with AI to give Ruff his body features back, As she types the instructions what it does is give Ruff the body of an orange, then an orange circle, after correcting this, she gives Ruff arms, well... squid arms, After giving Ruff his normal arms, gives Ruff bunny ears before giving him his normal ears, despite his objections, annoying him.
Ruff: [Extremely deadpan over Lupine giving him Squid Arms] Ha-ha, very funny, Sooooo hilarious.
    Lupine: Sorry about that...
