• Cross-Regional Voice Acting: The Magical Rescue used actors from the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas. London-based voice actor Gary Martin also appears as the Goanna (replacing Tone Loc as mentioned below) and Mac.
• The Other Darrin: Everyone was recast for the sequel. Not counting K.T. Vogt and David Rasner, only two of the replacement voice actors (Matt K. Miller as Batty and Gary Martin as Goanna) have any roles whatsoever outside the film.
• Sequel Gap: The Direct to Video sequel, FernGully 2: The Magical Rescue, was released six years after the first.
