Trivia / Faust: Love of the Damned

Go To

  • Completely Different Title: Became Damned Love in Hungary.
  • Development Hell:
    • The film's script was completed with pre-production planned to begin in the fall of 1996, but due to the poor reception of other superhero films around that time, the film was put on hold, and the script was passed around different directors for years. The film was finally completed in in the fall of 2000, and only received a limited showing at the Sitges Film Festival before getting a quiet release on DVD.
    • The comic's first issue released in November of 1987; Issue #15, the final issue, released in November of 2012 — 25 years later!
  • Follow the Leader: Much of the movie's aesthetic takes cues from the many other action-horror movies of the time in which it was filmed (though the original comic predates Spawn by half a decade): unfortunately, due to its Development Hell, by the time it was released, the styles it was aping were already on their way out.
  • The Foreign Subtitle:
    • Brazil: Faust: The Eternal Nightmare
    • Greece: Faust, the Face of the Devil
    • Slovakia: Faust: Deal with a Devil
    • Spain: Faust: Revenge is In the Blood
  • What Could Have Been: Reportedly, Stuart Gordon initially planned to direct the movie in the 90s, and planned for it to be truer to the source material, basically Caligula as a horror movie.
