  • Children Voicing Children: Elinor, Olive, and Ari were all voiced by kids, along with the other younger recurring characters.
  • Completely Different Title:
    • Elinor, the Curious (Elinor, a curiosa) in Brazil.
    • Elinor Wants to Know (النور می خواد بدونه) in Iran.
    • Ellinor Wonders So (Ellinor undrar så) in Sweden.
    • Going Out to Explore with Elinor (יוצאים לחקור עם אלינור) in Israel.
    • Joy and the Wonders of Nature (Ilona ja luonnon ihmeet) in Finland. (Elinor's name in the Finnish dub is Ilona, which means "joy".)
    • Elinor's Questions (Las preguntas de Elinor) in Latin America.
    • Elinor veut tout savoir (Elinor Wants to Know Everything) in France.
  • Early-Bird Release: The show premiered on PBS Kids in September 2020, but PBS Kids released the first episode onto YouTube and their own website / video app in July 2020.
  • Fandom Nod: The producers are aware of the show's Periphery Demographic. In an official drawing tutorial for the character of Koa, Jorge Cham says "Some people online seem to think that Koa is a quokka, which is another animal from Australia, but actually Koa is a wombat."
  • Inspiration for the Work: The show's art style is based on Pogo and Calvin and Hobbes according to Jorge Cham.
  • Late Export for You: The show was released in Canada on June 6, 2022, a year and nine months after premiering in the United States.
  • Meaningful Release Date: "The Unsinkable Lynx; Rocky the Rock" aired on September 7, 2021, the one year anniversary of the show's premiere on TV. In addition, PBS released a DVD on the same day called 15 Girl Power Adventures that also featured Elinor Wonders Why.
  • The Merch: There are various fanmade plushies that somehow made their way into Walmart. There is also an Elinor Tonie that plays audio from the episode "Ms. Mole's Glasses" and "Backyard Soup." Besides this, there are also a couple of officially licensed puzzles available at dollar stores. There is also the merchandise available on the official online PBSKids shop, which includes t-shirts, a beach towel, and a reversible comforter set.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Tamara Freeman does Beatriz's speaking voice, while Nisa Gunduz does her singing voice.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: After "A Wonderful Journey," the series went on a long hiatus with no news of a second season. This led fans to spread rumors that the show was cancelled, until Juan Chioran, the voice of Señor Tapir, confirmed that new episodes were being recorded.
  • Real-Life Relative: Mary and Lizzie the Goat Twins are voiced by real-life sisters, Abigail and Grace Oliver.
  • Voices in One Room: Prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Markeda McKay, Maria Nash, and Wyatt White, the voices for Elinor, Olive, and Ari respectively, recorded their dialogue together and eventually became friends. When the pandemic hit, the cast recorded separately, but would meet up in the studio again from time to time in 2021 as the pandemic began to slowly wind down.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Several episode credits list a character named "Mrs. Gorilla", voiced by the black Nicole Stamp, but she never appears in the show. It's possible that the production team realized that having a black person voice a gorilla would have led to invokedUnfortunate Implications (black people have been compared to monkeys as a form of racism and dehumanization, especially in early minstrel cartoons), and deleted her as soon as possible.
    • The leaked description for "A Wonderful Journey" listed the new character as Bianca. In the special, she was renamed to Beatriz.
  • Word of God: Fans thought that Koa was a quokka, but Jorge Cham, in a drawing tutorial, debunked the rumor and stated that he's actually a wombat.
  • Write Who You Know: Elinor is based on Jorge Cham's daughter, also named Elinor.
