Trivia / Elephant (2003)

• Amateur Cast: Most of the students are played by non-actors or very new actors.
• Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: Harvey Pekar talks about the movie in one issue of American Splendor — Elephant showed at Cannes the same year as the American Splendor movie adaptation — calling it The Elephant rather than just Elephant.
• The Danza: The students' names are all the same as or variations on their actors' names. Averted with Michelle, who is played by Kristen Hicks, and Acadia, who is played by Alicia Mills.
• Dueling Works: With Zero Day, another extremely naturalistic, largely improvised 2002-2003 movie, played by non-actors, about a Columbine school shooting expy.
