Trivia / Dying Fetus

Go To

  • Colbert Bump: They were introduced to many people by way of the South Park episode Band In China.
  • Development Hell: Subverted with Wrong One to Fuck With. There was a five-year gap between Reign Supreme and its successor, but it was less an arduous or trying creative process and more a lot of touring, not to mention the band deliberately took their time with it.
  • No Export for You: Generally averted, as most of their bonus tracks have showed up on domestic releases at some point or another; "Reduced to Slavery", however, was a straight example until the 2010 rerelease of Grotesque Impalement, where it was added along with a few unreleased tracks.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Trey. He even acknowledged in an interview that going from playing in Covenance (a token "perpetual local opener" act from Baltimore that had a short Canadian tour as the highest point of their career) to playing in Dying Fetus was the single biggest career-related leap that he had ever taken and that when Sean asked him if he wanted to join, he needed a few days to think it over just because of how major a change it was.
  • What Could Have Been: Several people almost joined on drums.
    • Brad Fincher tried to join back around the end of the cycle for Purification Through Violence. As per Brad, he noticed that they had a fill-in drummer when Devourment opened for them in 1997 who wasn't cutting it, and after the show was over, he put them up for the night and jammed with them the following day and suggested that he wanted to join, and the band admitted that while they were impressed with his ability, Kevin Talley had already accepted their offer and was going to start after that tour.
    • Zach Gibson got the call to join in 2006, but they wanted him to move to Maryland, which he simply could not afford to do, and he was forced to turn down the offer. By his own admission, it was for the better in the long term, as he would have had to quit either way once his focal dystonia inevitably surfaced down the line.
