Trivia / Drunk History

Go To

  • Absurdly Short Production Time: Each of the reenactments could typically be filmed in just a single day.
  • Awesome, Dear Boy: According to Derek Waters, the guests who did the reenactments were willing to be paid at scale rate so that they could do something they hadn't done before and have fun.
  • Cross-Cast Role: In the "Hamilton" episode, Hamilton and Aaron Burr are played by Alia Shawkat and Aubrey Plaza.
  • Fake American: Due to the segments being narrated over by the drunk presented several guest stars have been this, particularly British. Bonus points if said Brits are Patriots in segments about The American Revolution.
  • Real-Life Relative:
    • Brothers Owen and Luke Wilson as brothers John and Will Kellogg in the Detroit episode.
    • Variation: In the "Boston" episode, Chris Romano is brought in to talk about Johnny Cool, who was Boston's greatest arsonist... and was also his dad.
  • Screwed by the Network: Despite high praise, decent viewership and already being renewed for a seventh season, the series was cancelled on August 19, 2020.
  • Throw It In!: This is part of the fun of the show. Narrator flubs, stutters, and distractions are usually kept in and often acted out entirely, with typically hilarious results.
  • You Look Familiar: Not only will certain celebrities like Jack Black or Jack McBrayer play multiple different roles throughout a season, but the same three or four supporting cast members (and Waters himself) can be seen in almost every episode.
