• Acting for Two: In addition to playing Ben, Michael Craze also voiced a policeman in Episode 4.
• First Appearance: Of Ben and Polly.
• Inspiration for the Work: The idea for the story came about when Dr. Kit Pedler was being interviewed by Gerry Davis as a possible creative advisor. When asked what could happen if the newly-built Post Office Tower was taken over, he replied that it would probably be because of a rogue A.I. inside the tower. This response helped him both get the job and a credit on the episode.
• Missing Episode: All four episodes survive, but Episodes 3 & 4 only exist as censored versions returned from Nigeria. (Episode 2 also had cuts, but these were reinstated with another, lower-copy of the episode and censor cuts from Australia.) Approximately two minutes is missing overall, and for the DVD release the gaps were covered by taking the audio of the missing bits and using it with recycled footage from elsewhere in the story.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, WOTAN’s abilities could be seen by his victims having their hands look like bones. Writer Ian Stuart Black restored this element in his novelization.
• Working Title: The Computers.
