- Prop Recycling: As seen in the first gameplay trailer, the game is unashamedly reusing the slide and teleport (Blink) animations from Dishonored along with architecture models such as Dunwall's Tower's distinctive two-sided fireplace. The climax also uses the flintlock pistols from Dishonored. It greatly helps that it's heavily implied that Deathloop takes place in the future of Dishonored's universe.
- Release Date Change: It was originally supposed to be release on late 2020, before production was impacted by COVID-19.
- Shout-Out:
- Wenjie Adams is a double shout-out. She looks like the feminine version of Morgan Yu from Prey (2017), and she's named after Ye Wenjie, a character from The Three-Body Problem.
- What Might Have Been: Aleksis' party was initially concepted for Dishonored 2, only to be shelved so as not to "out-Boyle Lady Boyle." Cite
- Word of God: After the release of the Goldenloop update, the creative director of the game officially confirmed that Deathloop takes place in "one of the futures of the Dishonored world."
