• Creator Backlash:
  • Leigh Whannell hated making the film, and boy, does it show. He blames Executive Meddling for watering down his and Wan's intended vision (notably, Mary Shaw's Tragic Backstory was completely cut). Whannel not only disowned the final film, but vowed to never let a studio interfere with his writing again and has only written spec scripts (i.e. completed ones) since.
  • Interestingly, Whannell later reused some of the scrapped elements for The Invisible Man (2020), such as the plot points of domestic abuse and pregnancy that were part of Mary's original motivation.
• Deleted Scenes: The DVD features an alternate opening and the slightly modified Twist Ending that accompanied it, which were closer to Leigh Wahnnell's original script. That's right, there was originally supposed to be another twist in the ending.
• Fake American:
  • Jamie is played by Ryan Kwanten, who is Australian.
  • Laura Regan, who plays Lisa, is Canadian.
• What Could Have Been: The original script is quite different.
