Trivia / Dave Matthews Band

Go To

  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: A news report on the death of Leroi Moore showed the cover of Everyday, since it's the only album with the full band together and facing the cover. While talking about Moore, the video then zoomed in on the face of Carter Beauford. Oops.
  • Creator Breakdown: Most of the songs from The Lillywhite Sessions were written while Dave was rather drunk and depressed.
    • Dave tried to avert this by scrapping those songs and writing most of Everyday, a pop-flavored album, in about 10 days. Since they were still playing a number of them live, the band eventually warmed up to the idea of releasing them on ''Busted Stuff', which was rather Lighter and Softer than the original album.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The Lillywhite Sessions became some of the most (in)famous bootleg recordings of the Napster Era.
    • The band actively endorses the taping and trading of their live shows, so long as it's not done for profit.
  • The Pete Best: Peter Griesar. He left in 1993 before the band hit it big with Under the Table and Dreaming. Since then, the band did not add a keyboard player in its official lineup until 2018, when Buddy Strong was added, despite Butch Taylor being an important part of their live shows (until his departure in 2008) and several piano-based tracks appearing on their albums.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Violinist Boyd Tinsley, a member of the band since 1993, was fired in 2018 after sexual harrassment and assualt allegations against him were made public. Tinsley took a sabbatical from the band in February 2018, but only told the other members and the public that he was taking a break to care for his family, but would eventually return. That statement was made the day he was served a lawsuit related to the accusations. When the truth came out that May, the band chose to remove Tinsley from their lineup permanently less than 24 hours later.
