• What Could Have Been:
  • Daimajin (or at least an early prototype of him) was originally supposed to be a villain in the Gamera series but he was ultimately replaced by Barugon.
  • Both Daimajin and Gamera were optioned for reboots in the 1990s. While Daimajin was higher regarded at the time, it was worried the need for a period peace would result in a drastically higher budget.
  • The idea of rebooting Daimajin was later reconsidered after the success of the Shusuke Kaneko Gamera trilogy, with Kevin Costner of all people as a name thrown around by Kadokawa-Daiei as a potential star. While this version didn't materialize either, it's possible it ended up evolving into Daimajin Kanon instead.
