- Creator-Driven Successor: To Pixelberry's Most Wanted, using the same textboxes and even much of the plot of a cult based crime for the now-cancelled sequel. It also helps that Crimes of Passion is also being written by one of Most Wanted's writers.
- Release Date Change: The series was initially planned for release in the second half of 2020, before being delayed to December 2021 (partly because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and partly for further quality control).
- Series Hiatus: Crimes of Passion went on hiatus for VIP players on February 16, 2022 (coincidentally, the day Wake The Dead came back from its hiatus), and returned on April 6, 2022 (which is also the general release date).
- What Could Have Been: Originally, the side book Crimes: The Proposal was supposed to stay as a VIP exclusive, but on May 17, 2024, Pixelberry confirmed that it would be released to all players a few months later. This is likely because, unlike most other VIP exclusive side books, this one is integral to Cameron and Trystan's story, and it wouldn't be fair to leave out such an important piece of the story to a chunk of the userbase.
