Trivia / Chuck Berry

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit: "My Ding-a-Ling". Fate doesn't get much crueler than to have none of your revolutionary songs from The '50s hit #1, then to finally reach the top years later with a goofy novelty song that you didn't even write.
  • Channel Hop: After a decade with Chess Records he left for Mercury Records in 1967. Three years later he went back to Chess; his first album after his return was called Back Home. Then he released Rockit, his final studio album in his lifetime, on Atco Records in 1979. His true final studio album, the posthumously released Chuck, was put out through Dualtone Records in the US and Decca Records internationally.
  • Chart Displacement: Chuck Berry's sole #1 hit wasn't his signature song "Johnny B. Goode", but rather "My Ding-a-Ling".
