  • Creator Backlash: In both of their one-off reunions, Genesis refused to play anything from the album, and their greatest hits album Turn It On Again: The Hits only includes the song "Congo," the only UK Top 40 hit from the album. Tellingly, their R-Kive box set from 2014 doesn't include any song from the album. That said, neither Tony Banks nor Mike Rutherford were fully negative and would have gone on had the album done better than it did.
  • Creator Killer: The writing had been on the wall for Genesis from a combination of a changing music landscape since the release of Invisible Touch, a brewing backlash against Phil Collins' overexposure and Collins himself leaving the band. The album's catastrophic reviews and sales put the final nail in the coffin.
  • Cut Song: A 2019 interview with Tony Banks suggested that he left off two of the strongest tracks in their session.
  • Rarely Performed Song: The band avoided including any material from this album in their setlist during the 2007 and 2021 reunions. Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks each only made the album for the other's sake--neither of them, unbeknownst to the other, wanted to continue the band after Phil Collins left. The resulting material was widely panned by fans, critics, and the musicians involved, ensuring that it would go unrepresented on stage (and off).
  • What Could Have Been: Ray Wilson was one of two candidates they auditioned, the other being David Longdon (later of Big Big Train). It's worth noting that Wilson's vocals were a key point of contention among critics (and even the band at points), and that Wilson had a hand in writing the music.
