Trivia / Brian Eno

Go To

  • All-Star Cast: His albums feature artists such as Phil Collins, Robert Fripp of King Crimson, Robert Wyatt of Soft Machine, Fred Frith of Henry Cow and Jaki Liebezeit of Can.
  • Attention Deficit Creator Disorder: Eno has a whim of iron, if the huge number of collaborative and production projects in his discography are any indication.
  • Breakup Breakout: Aside from Bryan Ferry, he's the best known member of Roxy Music, and widely considered the most influential (not to mention arguably the most prolific between his studio albums, collaborations, and other ventures).
  • Creator Breakdown: Eno was forced to listen to his environment after a car crash left him bedridden for a few months in 1975, which inspired a new quieter direction. 1978's Ambient 1: Music for Airports – one of the first ambient albums ever – was written to relieve anxious feelings about fatal airplane accidents. (Not so dark as it sounds, as certainly air travel is safer than cars!)
  • Irony as She Is Cast: Microsoft commissioned Eno, a dedicated Mac user, to compose the iconic startup sound for Windows 95.
  • Production Posse: Rhett Davies has long worked with Eno as his recording engineer.
  • Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: How Eno wrote the lyrics to his vocal albums in the studio. He would sing nonsense syllables to the completed backing tracks and then make up lyrics to go over them.
