Trivia / Bravest Warriors

Go To

  • Cross-Dressing Voices:
    • Pixel is male, but voiced by Maria Bamford.
    • Catbug is voiced by a woman in the Japanese dub.
  • Development Gag: Chris's father wielded the lightning sword Chris had in the pilot.
  • Development Hell: Season 3 was originally slated for early 2015, only to be delayed by two years, finally premiering in January 2017.
  • God Does Not Own This World: Besides having created the original short and providing some voices in the series, Pen Ward had zero creative input on Bravest Warriors.
  • He Also Did:
    • The guy who made this worked on Adventure Time, as it becomes readily apparent. However, as noted above, while Pendleton Ward created the concept and the original short (and has provided some voices) he has no influence on Bravest Warriors, unlike Adventure Time.
    • The developer for the web series is the same guy who did the Dr. Tran series as well.
  • International Co Production: Season 4 is a collaboration between the American Frederator and the Canadian Nelvana, much like the international rights to early seasons of The Fairly Oddparents.
  • Network to the Rescue: After Nickelodeon rejected the original Random! Cartoons pilot, Frederator Studios started putting focus into web animation with Channel Frederator and took the opportunity to greenlight Bravest Warriors as part of Cartoon Hangover. Oddly enough, the pilot for Bravest Warriors was still featured in re-runs for Random! Cartoons on Nicktoons Network.
  • No Budget: The entire show is made on a substantially tinier budget than even a TV cartoon, yet manages to not only look perfectly professional, but even have full animation at parts!
  • No Export for You: Because VRV is unavailable outside the United States, from January 2017 to September 2018, there was no legal way for non-Americans to watch Season 3 or Season 4.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • In the original Random! Cartoons pilot, Chris Kirkman was voiced by Charlie Schlatter, Beth Tezuka was voiced by Tara Strong, Danny Vasquez was voiced by Rob Paulsen and Wallow was voiced by Dan Finnerty. After Frederator Studios opted to make the show a web series without Nickelodeon's involvement, the characters were respectively recast with Alex Walsh, Liliana Mumy, John Omohundro and Ian Jones-Quartey (though Tara Strong would remain involved as the voice of Plum).
    • In the fourth season co-produced with Nelvana, Chris is now voiced by Graeme Jokic instead of Alex Walsh because of Canadian laws requiring at least one Canadian actor as one of the two leads (though Alex Walsh was still involved as the voice of Beth's boyfriend, Zack Ryan).
    • Chris' parents Brian and Josephine were initially voiced by Breehn Burns and Vanessa Marshall for seasons two and three, but in the fourth season co-produced with Nelvana, they are instead voiced by Eric Bauza and Tara Strong (who are both Canadian).
    • Slippy Napkins was voiced by Polly Lou Livingston in the original Random! Cartoons pilot and the first three seasons, but in the fourth season was recast with Fiona Reid (who is Canadian).
  • Real-Life Relative: Beth's father/Ralph Waldo Pickle Chips is voiced by Bill Mumy, who is father to Beth's voice actor Liliana Mumy in real life.
  • Recursive Adaptation: The Season 3 episode "Fast Times at Saturn Oaks" is adapted from the 14th issue of the Boom Studios comic book tie-in, the story itself originally intended to be an episode of the web series before being repurposed for the comic.
  • Sequel First: The Japanese version starts at season 4 instead of season 1, presumably because the first three seasons have only 5-minute episodes while the fourth season episodes are a full 22 minutes.
  • Unspecified Role Credit: The fourth season credits the voice actors, but does not specify which characters they are voicing.
