  • Banned in China: Due to heavy political content and being finished few weeks before martial law was declared, the film was banned in its native Poland and wasn't screened anywhere for following six years. Only after the ban was removed did it have both its national and international premieres.
  • Missing Episode: Several scenes were cut by Polish censors between the film's original completion in 1981 and its premiere in 1987. The 2012 digital restoration by Tor Film Studio reversed the cuts, but the last few seconds of the scene of Witek's arrest (which was censored for its depiction of police brutality) are still missing, as the footage was too badly degraded to restore; only the audio survives.
  • Reality Subtext: Once finding their weakness, Witek instantly decides to ditch talks with the junkies, rescue the hospital personnel and drop any pretense of negotiating. This is a parallel of how communist government treated the Solidarity movement - first pretending to talk and bowing to demands, then going behind their backs. However, Witek remains a Naïve Newcomer and is disgusted when Party officials praise him for his underhand tactics.
