Trivia / Bejeweled

Go To

  • Breakthrough Hit: You only heard of PopCap Games after you played this game.
  • Cash-Cow Franchise
  • Descended Creator: Jason Kapalka himself voices The Voice in the first game.
  • Dummied Out: Bejeweled Twist originally featured three special gems that never made it to the final game: the Ice Gem (freezes the timers on Bomb Gems for a short while), Angel Gem (destroys all bad gems on the board), and the Skull Gem (eats the gem below it every turn, ending the game if it ever reaches the bottom.) Of these three, the Ice Gem is the closest to working properly in-game, though it can only be made in Challenge Mode. Angel Gems and Skull Gems crash the game when they activate (for an Angel Gem) or reach the bottom (for a Skull Gem.)
  • Follow the Leader: Virtually every Match-Three Game owes its existence to Bejeweled, including Candy Crush Saga. And then things came full circle in May 2016 when PopCap Games released Bejeweled Stars, a clear Follow the Leader of Candy Crush Saga.
  • Genre Popularizer: Match-3 games.
  • No Export for You: Bejeweled 3 Plus was only released in China, although it has a Fan Translation.
  • No Port For You: Twist and Stars did not get releases on home consoles, whereas Blitz LIVE did not receive a PC release.
  • The Other Darrin: The Voice has a different voice actor for almost every game:
