Perry Martin, also known as MasterPerryMartin, is a GModder who makes works related to Splatoon and Supermarioglitchy4's Super Mario 64 Bloopers (at least before he got flustered with how the SMG4 series was going with Sunset Paradise and the rest of the Genesis Arc post WoTFI-2021) in the form of fan comics on DeviantArt. He’s also the author of Freedom Dies With Me, a fanfic of Freedom Planet, as well as other stories on FanFiction.Net and Archive Of Our Own.

Much of Perry’s work is encompassed by the Warmonger AU, a dark multiversal crossover series in which alternate timeline selves of various characters, after experiencing severe trauma far beyond what their prime counterparts live through, fall to a supernatural corruption known as the Warmonger Condition and become violent, mentally unstable versions of themselves with superhuman abilities. The series primarily follows the perspective of the War Splats (a ragtag gang of corrupted Splatoon idols) as they try to navigate the turmoil of an inter-dimensional criminal underground under the leadership of the insufferable megalomaniac War Pearl, but a variety of groups and factions exist and occasionally get the spotlight.

     Arcs and Major Works
Seemingly inspired from SMG4 himself, his works often come in waves or "Arcs", the major ones in question listed below;
Beyond Warmonger works, he also makes more general works with characters, mainly a group of co-owned Splatoon OCs shared with a close friend.

Check out his DeviantArt profile here, his FanFiction profile here, his AO3 profile here and his Tumblr profile here.

Perry announced in late April 2024 that his GMOD work is on "indefinite hiatus" owing to the copyright trolling of Nintendo addons on the Garry's Mod workshop, as well as mental and physical stress and burnout.

Tropes used by this author:

  • Alternate Universe Fic: His comics of Splatoon and SMG4 take place in universes separate from both.
  • Applied Phlebotinum: Cavae Plaga, the catalyst for the Warmonger Condition. A gaseous, black and red substance of mysterious origin that spreads all over the multiverse but is never seen nor its mutating power felt… until someone’s soul breaks.
  • Black Eyes of Crazy: The signature feature of Warmongers, with faintly glowing irises that come in a wide variety of colours to denote the different Warmonger types. Reaches its logical endpoint with "Ferals"; those who regress to base survival instincts, who have blank black eyes with no pupils at all.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Lord Karsum, the so-called head of the Condition. All that matters to him is the safety and proliferation of his "children", and his actions are based off of that. This usually means he switches from Big Good to Big Bad whenever it suits his needs, though the official backstory implies he used to be much more villainous.
  • Big Bad: Off the Chain for the War Splats arc, the Eternal Empire for the Eternal Empire Arc and the Shadowmonger for the scrapped WarMeg arc.
  • Berserk Button: Usually, if something upsets him, he'll make it known. This mostly boils down to SMG4 stuff, as mentioned above.
    • The major one as of now seems to be what they did to One-Shot Wren. He was so incensed about Wren's sudden villainy that he kills him off twice in the same comic.
  • Darker and Edgier: Death, trauma and conflict are very common topics in his work. He’s known by most people for creating the Warmongers; dark, violent versions of Splatoon characters distinguished by their black eyes (e.g. War Callie and War Marie). Non-Splatoon characters receive this treatment as well. There’s also the Rawmongers and Shadowmongers, which function similarly.
  • Fan Webcomics: How he illustrates his work on DeviantArt.
  • Gargle Blaster: OctoScotch, favoured tipple of War Marina. Lore establishes it as a hard moonshine brewed in the Octarian Domes as a way to take the edge off their appalling living conditions. It is a foul-smelling, murky brown concoction that is said to be able to strip paint off of cars, and requires a signed waiver to purchase. A Pre-War Marie gets hooked on the stuff during Crimson Gaze, but not before drinking a six-pack nearly kills her.
    • And then it's revealed that the "scotch" War Marie was drinking was the weak, watered down stuff; a single sip of the real stuff (courtesy of War Marina) is described as "like a car slamming into her brain", causing her to let out a few strained gasps before passing out. And then hallucinating. War Marina, being much more tolerant to the stuff, drinks it like water and even sleeps in the same bath she brews it in.
  • Gratuitous Latin: Common, and often poorly; Cavae Plaga ("Hollow Plague"), Omnes Aterna ("Always Eternal") and the Immunditiam Libri ("Insanity Book") come to mind.
  • Gun Porn: The creator is a self-admitted massive gun nut, and the saga sees a wide variance of weapons ported from multiple games used by characters, ranging from Rust to Call of Duty to even Borderlands.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: The Warmonger AU sees the worlds of Splatoon, Sonic the Hedgehog, Freedom Planet, and even Call of Duty: Zombies brought together by the lore of the Plague, with some other franchises joining the fray for a comic or two or even an entire arc, most notably Supermarioglitchy4's Super Mario 64 Bloopers.
  • Pretentious Latin Motto: The Eternal Empire has "Omnes Eterna", translated to "Always Eternal".
