- Creator-Driven Successor: To Chrono Cross - both games share several staff members including the same art director and writer, both sport the same unique visual style, and both have vaguely similar battle systems which place emphasis on multi-hit combos, customizable command sets, and elemental affinity.
- Cross-Dressing Voices: Sadly averted with every single child in Eternal Wings. The actors don't even try to disguise their age. Thankfully played straight with Origins.
- No Dub for You: The 2023 HD rerelease removed the English dubbing for both games, making the spoken language Japanese only.
- No Export for You: Baten Kaitos Origins was never released in PAL regions. Finally adverted in 2023 thanks to the HD remaster compilation set to be released worldwide, but even then Origins will not be translated in any languages besides English.
- The Other Marty: Compare the voices in the original trailer
to the voices in the finished product. - Vaporware: A sequel for the Nintendo DS was announced, but never materialized. Years later it was confirmed to have been cancelled.
- What Could Have Been: The DS sequel that was never meant to be.
