Trivia / Back to the Outback

  • Executive Meddling: To the relief of the people heading the movie, there wasn’t much pushback from Netflix on aspects of the film other than being unsure of having the main character be a snake, and requesting that the scary animals in the film be more "huggable". On the subject, co-director Harry Cripps has said:
"They gave us a lot of freedom. They didn’t really interfere that much. We had notes, but they basically said, ‘We’ll stand back. Your movie, you do it. You tell us what you need, and then we’re backing off.’ It was like doing sort of an independent film within a vast studio that would offer you all the support, but they weren’t going to pull it apart every five minutes and make you rethink it."
  • The Danza: Jackie is voiced by Jacki Weaver.
  • Fake Nationality: A funny example with Australian actor Eric Bana voicing Chaz Hunt, as Chaz reveals he is an American putting on an accent to pretend to be Australian himself.
  • What Could Have Been: There were plans to include dingos, and there were some extra sea animals that Harry Cripps wanted to see in the film like the blue ringed octopus and blue bottle jellyfish, but none of them made it to the screen because:
"There’s just too many animals in Australia that can harm you to put in the film."
