- Maddie's relationship with Chaz at first:Chaz: How's my special girl? Ready to get out there and meet your public?Maddie: Yes, and I know you can't understand me, but I'm gonna make you so proud out there.
- Maddie giving a human about to stab Pretty Boy a warning hiss, scaring him off. She may be kind hearted, but you do not threaten her family.
- Hissing is a defensive behaviour for snakes to scare away predators without having to resort to biting, which means that as much as she wanted to save Pretty Boy, she also didn’t want to have to bite the biker unless she really had to.
- Norine being kind to the main characters, who (bar Pretty Boy) are used to humans reacting to them with fear and revulsion.
- When Chaz reveals to Chazzie that he’s been lying to him his whole life about how he went on all the adventures in his books, and that Chazzie’s mother wasn’t dead, but just ran away with a landscaper, Chazzie is surprised, but not in a "how could you lie to me all this time" way, and suggests that instead of continuing the hunt for the zoo animals, they could just go home and play videogames together.
