- He originally planned to face George Foreman at the Pyongyang International Sports and Culture Festival for Peace, but Foreman refused as he didn't want to go to a country like North Korea that was hostile to Americans.
- In 2006, he tried to organize a MMA event he dubbed "INOKI GENOME - The World's Best Martial Arts Decisive Battle". Several factors led him to keep postponing it, until he reorganized it into the Inoki Genome Federation instead as a pro wrestling/MMA company.
- Inoki was originally planed to return to NJPW as a Honorary Lifetime Chairman of the promotion with Inoki accepting the promotion's request on September 1, with news originally being planned to be announced on October 10, 2022 at NJPW Declaration of Power; however, those plans would ended up being canceled due to Inoki's passing on October 1.
