Trivia / Amityville II: The Possession

• Actor Allusion: A poster for Rocky can be seen hanged on a wall. Burt Young, who plays Sonny's father, was a costar in the Rocky movies.
• Playing Against Type: Oscar nominee Burt Young, who's known in his career to play working class characters who are rough-edged, but laid-back and easy-going following his acclaimed recognition as Paulie in Rocky, plays a darker character as a Jerkass Abusive Dad who's anything but those traits who ends up an Asshole Victim in the film.
• What Could Have Been: Director Damiani's original cut featured several scenes cut after negative reactions from the producers and test audiences. These include:
  • A graphic rape scene of Anthony anally raping Dolores, and an extended incestuous sex scene between Sonny and Patricia. These scenes were put in specifically by Damiani in order to upset and unsettle audiences.
  • A scene of Anthony drinking on the porch and cleaning his gun.
  • A scene of Jan pushing Mark's head under the water while he takes a bath.
  • A longer version of the shotgun massacre, including more graphic close-ups of the victims' deaths, as well as the on-screen deaths of Jan and Mark.
  • An alternative ending in which the spirits of the dead appear outside the house, and are blessed by Father Adamsky.
  • A shot of Jan and Mark holding hands and looking out the window appears in the theatrical trailer, but is nowhere to be scene in the film proper.
