  • Dummied Out: Despite the scope of the game, additional features and characters were left on the cutting room floor (some of which can be found by searching the game files):
    • There are far more weapon upgrade kits available than there are weapons in the game, suggesting that there were originally plans to have the player character wield a larger arsenal than the five standard weapons.
    • Certain portions of various levels would be flooded with water, forcing the player to swim through them and risk enemy attack. These were cut prior to release, according to designer Chris Buffa, on the basis that it simply didn't fit with the rest of the game.
    • There were plans to include a non-combat character called "Coolerbot", a robot whose only apparent function was to follow the player around in certain areas and "offer them water" (likely a minor healing mechanic). This was cut before release, but the concept got far enough along that the robot was designed and had its walking animations completed.
  • Refitted for Sequel: The concept of the UPP (Union of Progressive Peoples) infiltrating the Sulaco in an attempt to find xenomorph specimens or material is ascended from a concept derived from William Gibson's unproduced screenplay for the third film (which was subsequently adapted itself into comic format in 2018).
  • What Could Have Been: The game was meant to a ported version of Aliens: Colonial Marines. But due to the game's problems during development, the decision was made to make the game different instead.
